What’s In Your Closet with Helen

Our ever-trendy Helen has been with The Wool Centre for over four years. She has a keen eye for fashion and loves to help our customers find their perfect pieces in store. We’ve had a chat with her about some of her favourite TWC items and what she values about the garments she purchases.

What are your main considerations when buying, price, quality or style?
My first consideration is style, followed by quality and then price. I’m also looking for a garment with a good weight and feel.

Which TWC garments do you regularly reach for?
My favourite brand is UIMI and I consistently love their pieces as they’re a little bit different. My Toorallie chunky, roll-neck jumpers I also wear regularly this time of year as they’re so warm and stylish.

Is there a piece you have your eye on at the moment?
Always! I’m really considering comfort and warmth at the moment as I like to go walking and we’re starting to get some really cold mornings, so I’d love another pair of the Merino Yoga Pants by Merino Country. The cut is so flattering, and they are very cosy – they’re an easy wash-and-wear garment.

What do you enjoy most about working in the wool/retail industry?

Definitely the customer service aspect – I love the diversity of people that come through our door, and I really enjoy providing a personalised experience. It’s really satisfying being able to help someone find just what they’re looking for.

In your opinion, what staple item does every wardrobe need?
This time of year? Thermals! [laughs]. I think when considering basics, start with the next-to-skin wear. Look at Woolerina for thermals and Toorallie for their long sleeve Merino wool shirts. Then consider Lothlorian possum and Merino gloves and socks. Layering is key in this weather and there’s nothing warmer than wool.
