In the early 1800s, the pastoral beauty of Ross made it a natural hub for farming. With flat, fertile plains and a reliable water supply, the area quickly flourished. By 1826, Ross proudly hosted the first agricultural show in Tasmania’s midlands, marking the beginning of a deep connection between the region and its most iconic export: wool.
Just over a decade later, in 1838, a visionary group of landowners took this rural celebration a step further by establishing the Campbell Town Show – a gathering that would become Tasmania’s only dedicated sheep show and the longest continually run event of its kind in the entire British Commonwealth. A remarkable feat of endurance and tradition.
Today, the Campbell Town Show is a vibrant two-day celebration of rural life. While it has grown and evolved, it remains rooted in the land – with a strong focus on commercial sheep competitions, sustainable agriculture, and the values that have underpinned Tasmanian farming for generations.
At the Tasmanian Wool Centre, we’re proud to honour this legacy. For over 30 years, our non-profit retail store has celebrated the beauty and versatility of Australian wool – not only through our collections but also through our strong presence at the Campbell Town Show.
Each year, we participate in the AWI Fashion Parade, using it as a platform to bring together the worlds of woolgrowers and fashion lovers. Think bold colour stories, timeless silhouettes, and the kind of comfortable, quality garments that remind us why wool is such a treasured part of Australian life.
The AWI Fashion Parade has been a show highlight for over two decades – and this year is no exception. We’re excited to showcase our edit of Autumn/Winter 2025 fashion, featuring luxurious, wearable pieces that celebrate natural fibres and sustainable design.
