The first task of the Ross School was ‘lifting up’ the children of convicts and offering them opportunities unknown to their parents.

At Tasmanian Wool Centre Museum we are developing a new display on the story of education in the Ross District.

Right now our special focus is the Ross Public School and we have been seeking photographs and memorabilia relating to the Ross Public School. We have received some fabulous articles, photos, reports, documents and are having a wonderful time working on this.

Other schools of interest in the Ross district are Mona Vale and Auburn, Horton College or Ellinthorpe Girls’ School.

If you have any photographs or memorabilia relating to these, we’d love to hear from you.

In the meantime, we will start sharing some of the wonderful stories we are uncovering.

Stay tuned, and we hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
