Inside the front cover is written: ‘George Davis Horton College Ross’, and also the names ‘B E Davis’ and ‘Ada Davis’.
George, Beatrice and Ada Davis were all children of Henry Isaac Davis, the local general store owner of Ross. The son of a convict himself, Henry was determined that his children should receive the best education he could offer them, and so sent them to Horton College. He sent not only his sons, but two of his daughters to Horton College.
