Ann Crocombe lives in Deep Bay Tasmania, immersing herself in all things relating to natural fibres. Ann crafts with alpaca and moorit, hand spinning and hand dying the fleeces into beautiful skeins of wool, ready for our customers to take home and work with.
Moorit wool is a mix of Merino, Corriedale and in some states such as Tasmania, Border Leicester, Perondales and Romneys. Moorit sheep are breed for their range of natural colours varying from dark brown, chocolate, cream and tan through to cinnamon and coffee. Ann also works with beautifully soft alpaca wool which she supplies to us in 100g skeins of 4ply and 8ply, in an assortment of colours.
Ann is responsible for producing “bush walkers delight” which are small packets of carded wool that you can break up and use in your shoes to prevent blisters and rubbing on your feet! This carded wool can be used again and again, does not smell or retain smell and is 100% natural making it such a “delight” to have with you on your adventures.
Nothing beats the sensory feel of wool. It is an experience that cannot be satisfied in the on-line shopping world and so we encourage you to visit the Tasmanian Wool Centre for personal in-store service to help you find the outfit just meant for you.
If you are unable to visit us, while we do not have an online shopping cart, we welcome your order or enquiry via email, or call us on 03 6381 5466 (international: +61 3 6381 5466). Talk to us about the colours and sizes we have in-store. Our friendly team look forward to helping you.
