The Tasmanian Wool Centre was opened in 1988 as
a Bi-centennial project. It is a non-profit organisation, which
directs
surplus funds to the preservation of the buildings and the heritage
of Ross and the region and also aims to create employment opportunities.
Further to this, a range of outside consultants consisting of
Fabric, Landscape and Environment, History and Curative expertise
are sought
when required.
The Tasmanian Wool Centre offers a range of
tourism related activities and additionally manages the Ross
Female Factory
Site on behalf of
Parks and Wildlife. It is now one of Tasmania’s main tourist
attractions receiving over 95,000 visitors a year.
The Centre consists
of three areas: |
